The infotainment seems to be sticking out of the dashboard, and there’s also a new gear lever.
Although Porsche has a small range of cars, it still gives the impression that it is constantly updating its models. It’s not surprising, considering the number of variations in the 911 family and 718 sports cars. There are multiple Cayenne versions, as well as a distinct body style with the not a-coupe Coupe.
The Coupe-only Turbo GT was launched, but Zuffenhausen seems to be focusing their attention on the flagship model with its complex name – Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. This prototype is a clear sign that the entire Cayenne family will get a mid-cycle upgrade since the third-generation model was introduced just over four years ago.
This is not any other Porsche big SUV. We are talking about the Turbo S E-Hybrid and its quad exhaust tips. Dual fuel caps, which are acid green brake calipers, are signs that this electrified setup is the most powerful. It produces 670 horsepower and surpasses the Turbo GT’s 631-hp Turbo GT. Although it looks unassuming from the front, the headlights are covered in fake stickers that hide the true design. There’s also black tape on the bumper.
The cabin that the prototype saw during high-altitude testing at Colorado’s Colorado High-Altitude Testing could have even bigger changes. It featured an unusual center console. The dashboard has a horrible hump and a thick plastic bezel. It is not clear if the display will actually stick out from the dash, or if this Cayenne had a provisional setup.
To give the lower portion of the center console a cleaner appearance, the bulky automatic gear lever has been replaced by a smaller, shaver-like design. This Cayenne prototype is not the same quality as the production version.
We expect the wraps will be off by the end or early 2022. There could also be changes under the hood as Porsche engineers continue to improve their powertrains.
