It will be larger and longer than its predecessor.
The production-ready I.D. will finally be available on March 9. The electric Buzz van is the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ most important debut for 2022. The Amarok has been teased for almost two years. To ease the wait for the global premiere, Ford Ranger’s German brother is now back with a new preview.
This digital sketch shows the truck’s side profile. It features chunky plastic cladding at the wheel arches, and an impressive ground clearance. The pickup is equipped with winter tires that are hefty and have a lot of suspension travel so it can tackle uneven roads easily. The teaser image doesn’t show the full size of the new Amarok, but you can see that it is larger.
The new Ford T6 platform will make the workhorse 100 millimeters longer than the old model and 40mm wider than the previous one. The current Amarok double-cab version is 5,254mm (206.9in) long and 1,954mm (76.9in) wide. We can guess that most of this stretch will be used to create a larger cabin.
The revamped version will come with a variety of diesel engines. There will be other powertrains depending on the market. This is similar to the Ford Ranger, which will also be available in certain countries with a gasoline unit, the EcoBoost 2.0-liter four-pot.
The Blue Oval will sell the Everest in an SUV, but we haven’t heard of a body-on frame VW version. The fact that the Amarok would have been terminated without the tie-up between Ford and Ford is well known. It has sold more than 81,000 units and will be replaced by a partner at Silverton, South Africa.
