It has the same look as a rally car, but it is powered by electric motors.
The Lancia Delta Integrale returns to rallying or at least a vehicle that looks exactly like it. The new machine is powered by electric power and the turbo-charged engine has been retired. GCK Motorsport will be the motorsport team for the World Rallycross Championship’s inaugural EV series.
The machine is not based on the Delta Integrale. GCK uses its Exclusiv -e chassis instead. The resulting machine is called the Lancia Delta-evo-e by the company. The World Rallycross Championship driver is still unknown by the team.
“The race format lends itself to delivering one the most thrilling sporting spectacles using electric cars so far,” GCK boss Guerlain Chicherit stated.
The powertrain used by all World Rallycross Championship electric racers is from Austrian company Kreisel. Two-motor, all-wheel-drive setup will produce 671 horsepower (580 kilowatts) & 649 pound-feet (880 Newton meters). According to some reports, acceleration of 62 miles per hour (100 km per hour) takes only 1.8 seconds.
Championship. All of them will share the same powertrain but the teams can use different bodywork or liveries.
Teams, the FIA and event organizers are working together to improve the race format in order to encourage more competition and better passing opportunities.
GCK’s legacy is built on the Delta Integrale body. The Lancia team won five manufacturer’s titles and three driver’s trophies between 1988-92 with the Lancia machine.
The company has limited edition road-going versions for those who are in Europe and love the look of GCK’s Delta Integrale (video above). The electric all-wheel-drive machine produces 197 horsepower (147 kW) as well as 258 lbft (350 Nm), of torque. A 30-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery gives you 124 miles (200 km) of range.
