This is the spirit!
We have to confess, friends, that we enjoy reporting on people born in the first quarter century of the 20th Century who are still alive and driving cars every day. Remember the 90-year old man who bought a new Chevrolet Corvette as a birthday present? Or the 107 year-old man who cruises around with his Mercedes-Benz SLK 320 (see related links below)
Harold Baggott was born in 1920, and still drives every day. When he was 10, he had his first experience behind the wheel of a Ford Model T. He was then given time to drive it before obtaining his driver’s license in 1936. Baggott now enjoys the opportunity to drive Ford’s first mass-produced car, almost 90 years ago.
Mustang Mach-E. Baggott is an Ford enthusiast. He bought his first car in 1937, a Ford 8 Popular. The Ford Anglia was purchased the following year. He and his family owned 20 Fords and a large number of commercial vehicles to help them run their coach and travel business. Baggott is still interested in the automobile industry.
“Since I was 10, I have maintained my interest in motoring. Today, I am interested in electrification after the government has phased out traditional combustion engines that I used to. I’ve reflected on my driving experience with the Model T, and seen the future. It was thrilling to be able to drive the car I hope my great-grandchildren will take to the roads.
Ford of UK provided Baggott with a ride in a 1915 Model T, before allowing him to drive the all-electric Mustang Mach-E together with his family.
