Opel launches Astra OPC EXTREME in Geneva with 300 HP

The 84th Geneva Motor Show saw the world’s most powerful Opel Astra production ever.

The 84th Geneva Motor Show saw the world’s first public appearance of the Opel Astra , the most powerful production Opel Astra . Astra OPC EXTREME, which was revealed a week ago, made its public debut in Switzerland.

Based on the OPC standard, the car is 100 kg (220 lbs lighter) thanks to carbon fiber used on some body aero panels as well as on the wheels. It is found on the hood and bumper, spoiler, spoiler and roof.

Opel has installed under the hood a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine of 2.0-liter capacity that produces 300 horsepower (224 kW). It’s mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential to send power to the front wheels. Brembo six-piston brake system is the fastest ever used in Astra. It has a 370mm front disc and 19-inch alloy wheels with specially designed 245/35 tires.

Although performance specs have not been released, the car is definitely faster than the Astra OPC which takes 5.9 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h), on the way to a top speed at 155 mph (253 km/h).

Opel has not yet announced pricing details, but they have promised that the Astra OPC Extreme will be available in low-volume production within the next few months.
