GM hits with class action suit over faulty Cadillac CUE screens
Some touchscreens can become unresponsive or delaminate in certain models.

The infotainment screen of certain 2013-2017 Cadillac models has been reported to be having issues. According to Cadillac Society, several models have been affected by cracking or delaminating the Cadillac User Interface screen (CUE). A class-action lawsuit has been filed against General Motors.

Law of the Land:

The report states that the suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for New Jersey recently after the plaintiff was denied replacement for the screen which was alleged to have become nonresponsive during the warranty period. Although the affected vehicle is listed under the technical service bulletin number, it is a 2014 Cadillac ATS. PIC6055C published by GM in August 2017 lists several affected vehicles. These are:

According to the TSB the concern or condition is that customers may report that their radio screen is “bubbled or delaminating.” It is recommended that you replace the Integrated Center Stack. However, this procedure is only applicable to the touch screen. Bulletin 08-08-44-015 also warns of potential damage to the screen from “cleaning agents and excessive force”. Motor1.com could not locate this bulletin.

According to the suit, the touchscreens became unresponsive and the plaintiff was told by a Cadillac dealer that the problem occurs often. The report cites this incident and the TSB as evidence that GM knew there was a problem.

While a delaminated touchscreen may look ugly, it can also cause serious problems for the operation of many vehicle systems. Although the total number of persons in the suit class is not known, the report estimates that there could be up to $1,200 in out-of-pocket costs to fix the problem.
