Porsche should also build this.

Porsche unveiled a new 911 special edition last year – the Porsche 911 935. It is a tribute to the 935, also known as “Moby Dick”, a long-tail race car from 1970s. Mathew Parsons took the 935 to inspire Project 993. This is the Porsche 993, which was sold in the U.S. from 1995 to 1998. It has a lot of modern-day touches, including a variety of renderings from different angles.

Parsons didn’t just use the new 935 as an inspiration. Parsons writes in that Project 993 was inspired by Porsche’s motorsport heritage, their 935 revival and companies like Guntherwerks, RWB, and other sources such as Guntherwerks. This is a deep post. It combines OEM and aftermarket design cues to create a cohesive product that is ready for the open road and race track. The results are amazing.

The 935’s influence can be seen at the rear, with its elongated tail and busy rear diffuser. Twin exhaust pipes mimic the Porsche 911 special edition. Project 993 really has a modern look with its thin taillights. The renderings are more in line than you would expect to see on an upgraded 993. Project 993’s aggressive, yet elegant stance is accentuated by the wide front fenders and vents. The car also features round headlights with thin daytime running lamps and a round grille.

Porsche 993 Gets A Modern-Day Reimagining

The Porsche 993 was an amazing car at the time. It incorporated past 911 designs into a contemporary package that looks great today. The Porsche 993 is a great example of an automaker creating timeless designs. Parsons’ improvements – including the widening of the car and the 935-inspired rear end– don’t take away from the car. The changes actually elevate the design. It could be argued that the design is a bit too busy. However, sometimes opinions can be wrong.
