The greatest Mercedes is hungry for rubber.
The Top Gear track is known for determining the fastest car in a controlled environment. The course has seen hundreds of cars pass through it. But what happens when the clock stops and the crew heads home? A new video has been posted to the Top Gear YouTube channel. It shows what happens when the clock turns off and the camera crew heads home. The video shows Stig driving the 2021 Mercedes AMG GT Black Series around a course. There’s also plenty of smoke.
The orange coupe is seen sliding along the track, with smoke billowing from its rear tires. The video is the following: AMG GT Black Series The most powerful road-going Mercedes Never built – until Mercedes-AMG One arrives. It packs a twin-turbocharged flat-plane-crank 4.0-liter V8 engine. Through a seven-speed DCT gearbox, the mill produces 720 horsepower (537kilowatts). The power plant also produces 590 pound feet (800 Newton-meters), of torque.
The video is very short and serves more as beautiful broll than anything else. It shows the Mercedes going sideways at all possible times. Mercedes claims that the car can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds, and 124 mph (220 kph), in under two seconds. Although the Stig can reach speeds of 202 mph (325 km/h), it doesn’t manage to beat that speed on the Top Gear track.
But, this much fun is not cheap. The AMG GT Black Series is a high-end car at $326,050. This is almost twice the price of the AMG GT R. However, Mercedes made great efforts to make the supercar more attractive so that it could be branded with the Black Series badge. The company also installed carbon-fiber body panels and lighter glass. It also included an integrated roll cage. The GT also set the Nurburgring street-legal production car lap record.
