Both get a slight styling update.
The new Honda Civic has been introduced by Honda over the past three years. The sedan was first with the coupe and hatchback. The Japanese automaker has given the sedan and coupe a minor styling update while also adding the Sport trim, which is already available on a hatch.
The trim, which is Sport in name only and sits above the entry-level LX, is now called Sport. The trim includes a piano-black lower fascia and side pod accents for both body styles. The sedan also gets a rear decklid spoiler, and a splitter style rear bumper. This fits a chrome polygonal exhaust finishinger, similar to that found on the Civic Si. Both are equipped with 10-spoke, 18-inch wheels in black.
The engine is a 2.0-liter four cylinder and can be paired with either an continuously variable transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Both the coupe Sport and sedan are equipped with a 7-inch infotainment screen that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also a volume control.
Both body styles get several styling updates, except for the Sport trim. The front fascia “wing” has been redesigned to include a piano black fascia and a lower grille. The front features a full-width splitter, an updated halogen or led headlights and chrome accents to both the side pods. Both the sedan and Touring trim receive a chrome accent on their lower rear bumpers.
Honda has committed to providing Honda Sensing for all vehicles by 2022. With the 2019 Civic, Honda continues to fulfill this mission. All trims will be equipped with the latest safety technologies: collision mitigation brake, forward collision warning and road departure mitigation.
Honda has yet to announce pricing for the 2019 Civic. The price of the 2018 Civic sedan is $19,835 (prices do not include destination fees), while the price for the coupe is $20,245. Prices for the 2019 model will increase slightly.
