McLaren is the fastest ever on its way to customers
Some people have complained about McLaren’s identical models. But they would be wrong to say that the Speedtail is a minor variant of the Woking recipe. The dealer in Brussels received the first McLaren customer car. We all love its unusual shape and aero covers that keep the wheels in place while rotating.
The Senna was a lightweight track animal that embraced the “form follow function” principle. However, the Speedtail is all about high speed. It’s McLaren’s fastest production car at 250 mph (403 km/h) and is a worthy spiritual successor of the F1 naturally aspirated machine, which was 243 mph (from the 1990s).
These will not be available on the roads as the production is limited to 106 units. This ensures that they are identical to the F1. The carbon fiber-bodied UFO with wheels has been long gone. They cost PS1.75M ($2.16M) per piece before taxes and other options. McLaren began receiving customer deliveries of what it calls its first Hyper-GT at the start of the year.
These images aren’t enough to show the Speedtail’s incredible footprint. The Speedtail is 5.2m (204.7 inches) in length. It has a flat underfloor that maximizes airflow and a long rear end to keep it as slim as possible. The Speedtail is the most aerodynamic road car McLaren ever made. It can be lowered 35 millimeters (1.4 inch) by activating the Velocity mode to unlock its full speed potential. The Speedtail’s highest point, once it has been lowered, is only 1120mm (44.1 inches) above ground.
The McLaren Speedtail is just one of many new McLaren models. It joins the 765LT, which is a more intense version of the 720S. These cars were revealed as part of Track25’s business plan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in order to announce a PS1.2billion ($1.48M), investment to launch 18 new cars and derivatives by the end of 2025.
