The new BMW X2 crossover is a polarizing model that the German marque hopes to be the next big selling SUV. The X2 starts at $39,395 with $995 destination. However, once you have checked all of the options boxes on the online configurator it becomes more expensive.
You’ll pay $43,050 for the xDrive28i model M Sport X Design. This is more than the cheapest X3 (42,450). The Premium Tier package includes features such as remote services, advanced real-time traffic information and navigation with a touchpad controller.
There are eight exterior colors available for the M Sport Design model (in addition to the standard model’s 10), with Alpine White the only option that is not charged extra. Each of the seven most expensive options – Black Sapphire Metallic (Material Grey Metallic), Dark Olive Metallic; Misano Blue Metallic; Galvanic Gold Metallic; Sunset Orange Metallic – cost an additional $550. Standard 19-inch M bi-color wheels are available, but 20-inch M bi-color wheels are available for an additional $600.
There are seven interior options available. These include two standard leatherette options and five more expensive leather options. The leather options include Mocha Dakota and Black with blue Highlight Dakota as well as Oyster Dakota and Black Dakota. They cost an additional $1,450. The M Sport trim comes standard with four interior trim options: Fine-wood with Pearl Chrome; Brushed Aluminum with Pearl Chrome; Black High-Gloss and Pearl Chrome; and Aluminum Hexagon With Pearl Chrome.
Buyers can choose a Driving Assistance Package for $700 more. This package includes features such as an active driving assistant. An additional $1,000 will get you active cruise control and an active driving assistant. The Dynamic Handling package costs $600 more than the Driving Assistance Package. However, it cannot be added to the optional 20-inch M Sports tires. The Dynamic Handling package adds features such as M Sports steering or dynamic damper control.
Although convenience and entertainment options may not be plentiful, they can be costly. Wireless charging and a WiFi Hotspot will cost you an additional $500. An M rear spoiler costs $150 and an Harman Kardon surround system costs $875. Apple CarPlay compatibility adds $300. You can get safety options such as a space-saver spare wheel and park distance control for $150 and $800, respectively.
The BMW M2 is available with options starting at $53,075, with a $995 destination. This brings the total cost to $54,070. You get the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 228 horsepower (178kilowatts) & 258 pound-feet (355 Newton-meters), all paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
