The Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison production is expected to increase in 2020

Just as assembly started, the first year of production saw dealer allocations.

The Bowtie plans to increase production of the rugged pickup in 2020, Muscle Cars & Trucks reports.

Matt Feldermann, American Expedition Vehicles Marketing Manager, stated that the capacity will increase for 2020. They are increasing production. We don’t know the exact number, but it could be around 2,500.

American Expedition Vehicles supplies many components that make ZR2 Bison unique. Special parts include five boron-steel skid plate, a modified front bumper and a grille that spells out Chevrolet.

The Bison also benefits from all of the ZR2’s standard upgrades. The truck comes with Multimatic’s Dynamic Spool Valve Dampers and a 2-inch lift. The pickup is equipped with 17-inch wheels and 31-inch tires. You can choose from either a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 308 horsepower (230 kW) and an eight-speed manual gearbox, or a 2.8-liter turbodiesel four cylinder producing 186 horsepower (139 kW) with a six speed automatic. Chevy will charge $5,750 for the Bison package that is added to the ZR2 trim.

Only 2,000 Colorado ZR2 Bisons were produced by Chevy, and all orders were placed for them as production was just beginning. If any examples made it to showrooms, without having a buyer, they were sold in an average time of 10 days.

Rumours abound that AEV might offer a more extreme version of the Bison to buyers. The vehicle would be equipped with new fender flares that provide more clearance and 35-inch tires. This should give it a more aggressive appearance.
