You can also see Christian Bale as Ken Miles in some sports car racing.
The latest trailer for Ford V Ferrari has been released. It gives a better glimpse at the history behind Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby’s development of the Ford GT40. On November 15, the film will premiere in the United States.
The film stars Matt Damon as Shelby, and Christian Bale plays Miles. It tells the story of Ford’s failed merger with Ferrari and how the Blue Oval decided to defeat the Prancing Horse at the track, specifically at 24 Hours of Le Mans. This effort resulted in Shelby designing the GT40 to run a larger and more powerful engine. It became an endurance racing icon by scoring a 1-2-3 finish on Le Mans 1966.
The trailer gives the impression that this movie could be the best motor racing movie since Rush. The clip opens with Miles racing Corvettes and Porsches in spectacular action. You can also see the GT40 racing against the Ferrari 330 P3.
For Shelby and Miles, the challenge was not so difficult after Ferrari’s cars won consecutive overall Le Mans wins from 1960 to 1965. They also won victories in 1954, ’58, and many other events. Ford was not a newcomer to endurance racing, but the GT40’s success made it a formidable force in the sport.
Ford Vs Ferrari is a must-see movie for automotive historians, racing enthusiasts, and anyone else who enjoys big-screen action without involving a hero. The amazing book Go like Hell: Ford and Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory At Le Mans tells the story in great detail.
