These days, the average Gladiator is still cheaper than it used to be.
In the last few weeks, we’ve seen a lot of modified Jeep Gladiators. The truck is a solid foundation for many cool tuning projects, including the military concept from AM General, and the camper conversion built by FiftyTen. This new truck is no exception. It comes from a Jeep dealer located in Michigan, and not an aftermarket company. The modern-day CJ-8 Scrambler tribute.
This interpretation and the original Scrambler are visually connected. Both have orange and brown decals between the front fenders and the bed. They also have custom trailer-style white wheels and a roll cage at the back. It is very similar to Jeep’s Scrambler tribute.

The alloys and some other details make a big difference. Comparing the two projects, it seems that the dealer project is closer to the original truck’s design.
This newer version is based on the Gladiator Sport S model. It has a 3.6-liter V6 under the hood. This is the only powertrain option available to the Gladiator today. It produces 285 horsepower (352 kilowatts), 260 pound-feet (352 Nm) versus just 110 hp (86kW) or 210 lb (285 Nm). The power is sent to all four wheels via an automatic gearbox. That’s the only thing that we would change. A manual would be more appropriate for this Scrambler tribute.

The Jeep concept from April is still available for purchase. The Michigan dealer who built this tribute is asking $51,220 after discount, which is still less than what Gladiator clients on average .
