Mustang-Based EV Crossover Teased in-Depth, Debuts in November

Even this simple line sketch shows the Mustang’s connection.

Ford had discussed the possibility of reviving Mustang Mach 1 to be an electric crossover. The name of the Mustang was not a popular choice. The company rewrote the name, but not the idea. Now we have a teaser video and an official Ford line image that give us a glimpse of the new offering.

The Mach-E is Here

The video first appeared on advocate.socialchorus.com, followed by Ford posting it on social media and on its website. This 22-second clip features close-ups of a clay model and a sketch of the future SUV.

This date, 11-17-19, is the date when the new crossover will be unveiled. It also happens to be a Sunday before media days at Los Angeles Auto Show. Since we couldn’t find the video on Blue Oval channels it was not available, we contacted Ford to inquire about it. The company confirmed that it is a teaser. A high-resolution version was also sent to us, as well as a promise of more information.

What is known about the crossover? It is based on the Mustang and will be Ford’s first fully-electric offering. Although Ford has been slow to get into the electric market, the teaser sketch shows what appears to be a well-designed offering in the expanding crossover market. It is easy to see the Mustang’s influence, and we can brag that it looks very similar to the exclusive renderings we have created over the past year.

Ford has made sure to use Mustang-based whenever the topic of EV crossovers has been brought up. Mach E could also be a candidate, as we’ve heard it mentioned on occasion. It is unlikely that the Blue Oval would resurrect an older nameplate like Maverick or Falcon.

We will be able to provide you with all the information we need by November 17 regarding what could be a sporty, attractive offering in the burgeoning EV-crossover market
