It is the Audi RS1 that Audi won’t build.
The A1 Sportback Audi is not the most exciting car in Audi’s range. ABT has created two modified versions of the supermini. One is available for purchase while the other is a special project to show the tuner’s potential. The tiny Audi has a wild exterior and has some serious power under the vented hood. This turbo-powered engine, which produces 197 horsepower, has been dropped to make way for the TT race car’s mill. ABT has tuned it to produce a robust 400 horsepower. The aggressive sound you hear is due to a straight-pipe exhaust system that features dual carbon-plated 114mm tips.
spent time with our friend and the 19-inch wheels that have internally mounted golden Aero rings. To complement the two-tone bodywork, the fancy shoes are covered in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 265/30 R19 rubber tires. This one-of-a-kind vehicle is more wild than Audi’s limited-edition Quattro.
You’ll find a roll-cage inside the cabin where the back seats are in an A1 Sportback. This is why ABT covered both the rear door handles. To further enhance the cabin’s custom-designed body-hugging seating, Alcantara has been applied with carbon fiber.
ABT has a soft spot for hot hatches:
The introduction of a comprehensive aftermarket package to the A1 Sportback is unlikely to make sense as it will likely be more expensive than the new RS3 Sportback that we spotted. We are glad that someone took the time to build this crazy car. It shows what we would have in an ideal world: more hot hatches, and fewer SUVs.
