We should clarify that the car was fully stock.

Today’s embargo lifted on the 2020 Shelby GT500 First Drive has revealed many new facts about the ultimate Mustang. Ford claims that its supercharged beast can complete the quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds. But if you give it to someone who is knowledgeable, this time will drop to almost a tenth.
9-Second Barrier Already Broken

REVan completed the quarter-mile in 10.89 seconds at 130 MPH (209 Kph) during the official launch Ford held in Las Vegas. However, he was later able to improve his time. He was able to run the quarter mile in 0.28 seconds less than his original time and finished with a time 10.61 at 133 mph (214 km/h) using a fully stock car.

The timeslips above show that the car did numerous sub-11 second runs. The slowest was in 10.97 seconds at 130 MPH. These numbers compare well to another American performance car. The Corvette , a mid-engined Corvette , completed the quarter mile at 122 mph (296 km/h), in just 11.2 seconds in a recent Driver test . It also hit 60 mph (96km/h) within 2.8 seconds.

We must remember that we are comparing the top-of-the-line version of the ‘Stang to the base ’Vette. This is not a fair battle. The standard GT500 costs roughly $10,000 more than the C8. Once you add options, it will cost you six figures.
