Brown is everywhere.
SEMA will be a massive automotive show with an array of aftermarket tuners and modifiers, as well as equipment makers hoping to make a big splash at the event. The automakers have also joined the fun, bringing their own models to showcase OEM accessories and parts. SEMA is where builders show off their latest and greatest rides. This year, we are eager to see Brown Sugar. It’s a modified Chevy pickup with an camper, which looks straight out of the 1970s.
It is difficult to find details online. The shop, River City Rods & Fabrication, is located in Davenport, Iowa. It posts a lot of updates to its Facebook page, showing the build’s progress – and crunch time last month. The company announced on Facebook that the build was complete.
Another Homemade Recipe:
The original RV was a fully enclosed, boxed camper that was behind the cab. The team removed that boxed camper and built a custom-made in-bed camper. The 1970s-era graphics can run uninterrupted across the bed, from the hood to the sides and back. The metallic dark brown paint contrasts beautifully with the various yellows, reds and oranges.
The exterior is just one aspect of the building. The interior is equally impressive, with the dark theme continuing inside due to the liberal use of different woods. Although photos are not available, we do know that the TV appears to be foldable, which allows for extra sleeping space above and below the cab. The sink is Coca-Cola, there are plenty of storage areas and a microwave. Although we don’t see any toilet or shower, the photos show that they may be there. There appears to be a red velvet headliner.
The wait to see Brown Sugar in its full glory is very short. It was put on a trailer for Vegas last week and will be shown tomorrow. This will be the first thing we have to do.
