The styling team at the automaker looked through an archive of materials to come up with the design. Cathy Bass, Bentley Color and Trim Designer, discovered the perfect fabric but it was not right for the new Continental GTC.
“The problem was that it was made using the wrong weave structure, as our hood material had a very specific weaving construction to meet technical requirements,” Bass stated in Bentley’s announcement about the tweed roof color options.
The company then attempted to reproduce the original material, but using modern standards. Although the roof looks dark brown from far away, it has a two-tone effect when you get closer.

The convertible’s tweed roof performs the same as other tops, such as the black and burgundy. The top can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds. It can travel at speeds up to 30 miles an hour (50 km per hour).
The Continental GTC comes with a -liter twin-turbo that produces 542 horsepower (404kilowatts), and 568 poundfeet (707 Newton-meters). This gets the car to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. The 6.0 liter twin-turbo offers 626 horsepower (467 kW), 664 lbft (900 Nm), and can reach 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.
