Skoda Octavia RS Redesigned To Spice Up The Roomy Liftback
In 2020, the supersized Golf GTI will debut.

The Skoda Octavia may not be the most exciting car in the world, but it has a lot to offer in the RS version. The RS version retains the great practicality of the standard model and adds some hot hatch features to make it a complete package. This is especially true when you consider the all-wheel-drive option. We expect a new version to be released next year. However, it will not be available in all 100+ Skodas markets until early 2021. This is just in time for Octavia RS’ 20th anniversary.

It’s Here!

XTomi Design decided to look into the future of Octavia RS. He rendered the Volkswagen Golf GTI’s Czech counterpart, but the rendering is not quite accurate. The real deal will look a lot more aggressive than the rendering and feature the revised RS logo, which was first seen on the Kodiaq RS a little more than a year ago. It features a red “V”, symbol. Skoda may adapt some of the Vision RS concept‘s sharp lines to fit the bumpers of the Octavia RS. This will be the most significant visual change on the exterior of the standard car. The new design will also include a fresh set of wheels.

Although the liftback is shown in the adjacent design exercise, the more practical Combi can already be seen undergoing testing. If the rumor mill is correct, both will use an upgraded version of the 2.0 TSI gasoline motor with close to 250 horsepower. However, there’s also going be a diesel with plenty of torque.

The 2.0 TDI engine in the regular Octavia has 197 horsepower and 400 Newton meters (295 pound-feet), respectively. It would be logical for the RS, to increase those output numbers. The technical specifications of the Octavia RS TDI will be revealed when the Golf GTD debuts in 2020, presumably before the comparable Skoda.

Get up to speed with the Octavia 4.

The new Octavia RS will look exactly like the predecessor. Only the diesel-powered version of the car will receive the AWD treatment. If you are looking for the gasoline engine with all-paw technology, the VW Golf R and the Cupra Leon ST will be your options.
