What do we have?
In October, we had our first glimpse at the 2020 Chevy corvette Convertible. It was an incredible feeling. This is the first retractable hardtop Corvette and it’s a mid-engined ‘Vette. Although it is quite different from the Corvette C8 non-convertible, the exterior design is the same. However, the roof can be retracted in just 16 seconds if you drive up to 30 mph.
This is not the case.Video uploaded byDrive 615Youtube shows another version of the topless Corvette.
The uploader spotted a 2020 Corvette Convertible that was damaged at the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green. The uploader didn’t set out to find a Corvette Convertible in Accelerate Yellow, but that was not his initial goal. This prototype of the Convertible C8 was instead found.
It is difficult to determine what happened to the prototype that was damaged. However, the video shows that both the airbags were deployed and one of the wheels was missing. We can conclude that the roofless prototype was damaged in an accident during further testing.
We know a few things about the topless Corvette. Chevy had considered using a fabric roof, but it was rejected by the company because the C7 Convertible was too cool. The Convertible Corvette is only 80 pounds lighter than the coupe, which is very negligible.
The production of the Corvette Convertible will begin late in the year. Right-hand versions are expected to follow at a later time. Chevrolet claims that the retractable roof version of the Corvette Convertible will cost $7,500 less than the coupe model, which should be about $67,000.
