Porsche 911 Turbo Prototype Spied With Fixed Duck Tail Wing A modern-day Carrera RS? While we are still months away from seeing the next-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S, we have already seen quite some prototypes of this model being tested on public roads as well as race tracks. We found yet another test car today, but it is a very interesting machine that caught our photographers’ eye in Stuttgart. The rear fixed rear wing is the only thing that makes this look different. This is what many refer to as a duck tail spoiler. It was something we saw on the German manufacturer’s Sport Classic series. This car appears to be based on upcoming 911 Turbo S, while the 911 Sport Classic used the Carrera S model for its foundation. Just to be clear, the 911 Turbo S prototypes that we have seen so far feature an activated rear wing which is substantially larger than the fixed spoiler on this test car . (see the comparison above). There are a variety of theories about what is in store for the new 911 (992). Another possibility is that Porsche will use the Turbo S as a base for its new Sport Classic series. This could limit production to just a few hundred examples. A hotter 911 Turbo – we’ll call it the Turbo RS at the moment – could also be in the works. It is possible to have a modern Carrera RS with the same name as the 1970s car. We will know more next year, regardless of the facts. The new 911 Turbo S will be available in spring 2020, according to recent reports. It will boast its powerful 3.8-liter twin turbo flat-six engine. The street says that the new 911 Turbo S will have 641 horsepower (477 Kilowatts) as well as 590 pound-feet (799 Newton meters), although nothing is confirmed at this time. Photos by Automedia
