Ferrari 360 Rally Car reveals Amazing Secret Under Its Skin It’s not a Ferrari, for one. You might think this is a Ferrari 360 GT, 360 Challenge, or other motorsport-spec Modena modified for rally racing. This is not the truth. This prancing horse, which loves to run fast on gravel courses, isn’t a Ferrari and it doesn’t have a 360 Modena shell. The rally car was discovered by Road and Track colleagues. After some research, they found it to be a custom-built project on a tube-frame chassis hidden underneath the Ferrari 360 Modena clothing. This is a more fascinating story than it sounds. The engine compartment doesn’t have a 3.6-liter V8 engine, like the successor to the Ferrari F355. It is believed that the rally car was built from two Suzuki engines, each with 200 horsepower. The 360-like design was created by Ya-Car, a Spanish rally and autocross team. It sends the engine’s power directly to both axles as opposed to Ferrari’s rear-wheel-drive model. Another obvious difference is the large suspension travel that allows the Ferrari to conquer the often difficult terrain of rally courses. The polycarbonate windows at the front and roof are hints that it is not a Modena. The dual exhaust system, with the tips positioned towards the middle, is a significant departure from the quad configuration of the 360 Modena or Challenge Stradale. Both have two tips at the corners. Although the rally car has more similarities to the 360 GT/GTC exhaust, we are tempted to believe Ya-Car installed a custom exhaust because almost everything else seems designed to make the not-a-Ferrari a rally beast.
