2020 Cadillac CT5V Prices Starting at $48,690, CT4V At $45,490

Sports sedans are not only cheaper than their predecessors but also much more powerful.

The rollout of the new Cadillac compact and midsize sedans was fraught with frustration and even controversy for GM performance fans. In June, the CT4 as well as the CT5 launched with horsepower figures that were significantly lower than their predecessors. Price is the final piece in the V puzzle, but it has been slow to come out of GM’s offices. The pricing details that we have been waiting for, which is now less than a month away in 2020, are finally available.

You won’t be disappointed by the drop in horsepower in comparison to the CTS-V or models. However, pricing has also dropped. A base model CT4V turning only the rear wheels will cost you $45,490, while an all-wheel drive model costs $46,590. Yes, there is a $995 delivery charge. The last ATS-V cost just over $60,000 so this is a significant price drop. The price difference will be obvious when you press the throttle. The CT4-V produces 325 horsepower (242 Kilowatts), whereas its predecessor produced 464 horsepower (346 kW).

The CT5_V is a step up in price. All-wheel-drive models are $51,290, while rear-wheel-drive models start from $48,690. This is almost half the price of the CTS-V. However, you get almost half the horsepower from the twin-turbo V6. It produces 360 hp (268kW) as opposed to the 640hp (477kW) 6.2-liter V8.

Of course, we all know that GM paraded a pair of camouflaged prototypes to folks at the Detroit Grand Prix shortly after the CT4-V / CT5-V debut in June, along with an explanation that those cars were the actual ultra-high-performance Cadillac sedans taking the place of the ATS-V and CTS-V. We’ve heard very little about them since then, save for a couple of prototype sightings and rumors that they’ll get Blackwing branding. When those models launch, which at this point looks to be sometime in 2020, expect power and pricing to resemble yesterday’s gone-but-not-forgotten Cadillac V sedans.
