Subaru just announced a 100-car production run of its Justy 1.0 Twin Cam Special Edition microcar in Britain. The price starts at PS10,000.
Who said that exotic limited-edition cars could not be bought? Subaru is clearly not one of them. Justy 1.0 Twin Cam Special Edition is the latest edition from the company. It may be the most affordable special edition in the UK. The production of this supermini with a spoiler and striped exterior will be limited to 100 cars. This means that the entire production run can be purchased for less than the price of a chrome-plated Bugatti Veyron.
Justy, a thumb-sized city car, is based on Daihatsu Sirion. In 1.0R form it looks like a high-economy urban minicar. It’s boxy but conservative. The 1.0 Twin Cam Special Edition adds an extra dose of excitement with exclusive paint in a choice between Shining Red or Black Mica, as well as over-the-roof “viper strips,” privacy glass, and roof spoiler. The Justy’s interior is finished with a leather- and alloy shift knob. Also available are 15-inch Monza R alloy wheels.
The Justy 1.0 Twin Cam Special Edition shares the Justy 1.0R’s 1.0 liter, 68bhp-three-cylinder engine and two wheel drive running gear. Although it’s not what you would call a hot hatch, the special edition’s attitude compensates for its lack of performance. Fuel economy is also important. After all, when was it that your limited-edition Ferrari could claim 64.2mpg on the UK Extra Urban Cycle?
Standard equipment on the Justy 1.0 Twin Cam Special Edition includes power windows, air conditioning, and anti-lock brakes. The price is just PS690 less than the standard Justy 1.0R. It starts at PS9,995. Monza alloys add PS600, but this is an exceptional edition that most people could live with.
We hope that some multi-billionaire creative enthusiast will purchase them all. It’s hard to imagine a 6800bhp army full of microcars sporting racing stripes that isn’t as cool as a FAB Maybach .
