Maserati Teases Angrily Looking Levante for New York Auto Show

It could be either the Levante GTS high-performance model or the plug-in hybrid version.

Maserati has released a teaser that suggests the Levante GTS might finally make its debut at the New York Auto Show. This model will add a performance-oriented trim option to the SUVs lineup, which might increase interest in the slow-selling vehicle.

According to reports , the Levante GTS uses the 3.8-liter biturbo engine from the Quattroporte GTS. The sedan produces 523 horsepower (390kilowatts) while the SUV could produce 570 horsepower (425 kW). The model would have a revised suspension that improves its handling and larger brakes to slow down.

FCA now has another option for SUV buyers looking for power with the Levante GTS. The Dodge Durango SRT is the least powerful with just 475 horsepower (354 kW). The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quarifoglio increases the power with 505 horsepower (377 kW). While the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk stands at the top with 707 horsepower (527 kW),

Exterior The Levante would have a more aggressive front bumper, with larger intakes and vents in its hood. The rear spoiler would be different than the current model. Spy shots also suggest that there is a small diffuser at its tail.

Maserati could unveil the rumored plug in hybrid version the SUV if this isn’t the GTS. For efficiency, this model could borrow technology from the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan.

Both models could boost interest in the Levante’s dreadful model. Maserati has slowed, or even stopped the SUV from production multiple times in order to meet the low demand.
