VW of America rejects Volkswagen GTI Edition 35

Volkswagen’s U.S. division claims it can create its own special editions, and that the Edition 35 isn’t the right fit for America.

Volkswagen of America has stated that it does not want the GTI Edition 35 contrary to reports.

According to a new report from Car & Driver, the special edition Golf GTI, which was unveiled at the GTI Meet Worthersee, is not going to make it to the United States.

A Car & Driver source in Germany says that VW of America makes their own special editions. They don’t need special editions for the GTI to sell well there…VW of America didn’t want it.”

The model was not offered in the United States, so there were some drawbacks.

However, the news does not rule out VW of America using some of its Edition 35 kit to create its own special edition Golf GTI. Just don’t be too optimistic.

GTI Edition 35 has a 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine. This is a tuned version of the Golf R’s 2.0 liter TFSI engine. It produces 235 PS (173kW/232 hp), which is 25 PS more than the standard GTI’s 211 PS (155kW/207 hp).
