Think of what Hennessey could do with the mid-engined ‘Vette.
Hennessey unveiled its Corvette ZR1 version a few days back. It could be as powerful as the Bugatti Veyron Sport, the 1,200 horsepower Hennessey Corvette. We were blown away by the machine. We can’t wait for its testing videos.
Hennessey released official footage of the less-powerful counterpart testing outside of a Dyno testing center. It’s even at a drag strip.
The Corvette ZR1’s 1,000-hp engine was equipped with a supercharged LT5 motor and an eargasmic exhaust note. It was driven on a drag strip to show what it can do in a straight line drive. The Texas-tuned Corvette ZR1 ran 9.79 seconds in a quarter mile standing. It also reached a speed of 139 mph at the end.
The 840-hp Dodge Demon ran the same course in 9.83 seconds at 136.19 mph. It would be fascinating to see the cars blazing at each other at the track. However, the HPE1000 Corvette ZR1 was capable of doing the same run without launch control as shown on the video.
This video captures the performance of the HPE1200 Corvette ZR1. It would be fascinating to see how long it takes to complete the standing quarter mile. It would probably do better, but it will take nine seconds. We’ll just have to wait and watch.
We can’t help but wonder what Hennessey could do with the C8 as the mid-engine Corvette is set to be revealed this year. It’s only a matter time before the aftermarket mogul does it, and we’ll be sure to bring you the news as it happens.
