It can go 200 mph
This video will help you if you are having a difficult start to 2020. It’s hard to imagine a Lamborghini top-speed video that wouldn’t bring a smile to gearheads’ faces. The V10 shriek from a Huracan Spyder is no exception.
For a flat-out speed race, we’re back at Florida’s Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. A stock Huracan SPyder is the vehicle in question. This runway was once used by NASA’s Space Shuttle. It is extremely flat and has 2.7 miles concrete that allows for acceleration. It’s located on Florida’s east coast, at sea level. This allows engines to get plenty of fuel and air. The weather is generally good. This run saw temperatures in the mid-70s (mid-20s Celsius), with moderate humidity of around 50%. This means that it was a great day to go fast.
According to the numbers, a stock RWD Huracan Spyder should produce 571 horsepower (426 Kilowatts) and reach speeds of around 200 mph (322 km/h). After a brief intro, the video switches to a windshield view showing the pass. This time, the runway was only 2.3 miles long. The speedo rises to impressive speeds of 190 and then drops dramatically to a final velocity of…196 mph.
It’s not 200, but it’s still not slow. It is possible that the Lambo could have accelerated slightly faster; acceleration was certainly lower, but we only had 196 seconds to read the readout. Perhaps the 200-mph goal could have been achieved with more space.
