Current Dodge Challenger could continue to be a Dodge Challenger until the 2023 model year

Dodge could produce the next-generation Challenger models together.

Since 2008, the Dodge Challenger model was introduced. Although the model received a significant refresh in 2015, it is not clear when Dodge will unveil a completely redesigned model. An earlier rumor suggested that a new Challenger might be introduced for 2023. However, this may not mean that the current model will cease to exist. Mopar insiders claim that the current Challenger will be produced through 2023.

According to the publication, Dodge may be considering building both the current-generation Challenger and next-generation Challenger models together at Brampton Assembly Plant, Ontario, Canada. Mopar Insiders claims that production of the next-generation Charger and Challenger will begin in the fourth quarter 2022. This coincides with an alleged egg Dodge revealed earlier this year in photos of the 2020 Challenger. It showed 2023 miles. Dodge quickly dispelled rumors a new Challenger would be arriving in 2023.

The Dodge Challenger has been a strong seller , beating the Chevy Camaro in 2019 sales. Dodge has been refining and enhancing the platform over the years. In 2019, Dodge introduced the SRT Hellcat (and SRT Demon) which are some of the most powerful and popular trims. The 2015 update helped to position the car with improved interior and performance.

The current Challenger’s retro styling will be maintained when the new Challenger launches. The next-generation Challenger may also get electrification, possibly with FCA’s 2.0-liter four cylinder engine. However, that would also require a new platform. Customers seem to be happy with the current Challenger offerings until Dodge unveils the new Challenger.
