Tuscon nameplate will be used for the Korean domestic market. The European model will be called the ix35. Details about the ix35 will be announced by Hyundai on September 3rd at the Frankfurt motor show.
Yesterday, Hyundai officially launched the new Tucsonix for the Korean market.
The ixONIC concept Hyundai was used to create the latest version of the compact SUV. Hyundai claims that the model has undergone a lot more development, investing 280 billion Korean won (225m U.S. Dollars or 157m euros) over 36 months.
The Tucson ix will be equipped with Hyundai’s 2.0 liter Theta II gasoline engine, which produces 166 horsepower, and the new 6-speed transmission. This variant is only available as a front-wheel drive. The Tucson will be equipped with the 2.0-liter diesel engine ‘R’, which produces 184 horsepower and has the same 6-speed gearbox. The diesel engine is available with both front-wheel and all wheel drive options.
It is also important to determine the names that this model will be called. Hyundai stated in a press release that the Tucson nameplate will be used for the Korean domestic market. The model will be called the ix35 in Europe.
Hyundai has announced details about the European ix35 model. This will be on the eve the Frankfurt motor show. The North American market will see the unveiling at the L.A. Auto Show in November.
