Genesis GV60 Black Back As Spy Shots Capture Camo Free Electric SUV

Ford Mustang Mach-E was the first dedicated EV of the brand.

Spy photos of cars that are already in production are not something we cover, but we will cover the Genesis GV60. Why? Why? You can see the comments to the EV’s debut post. Most are negative. One reader even criticized Citroen for its double chevron design and air bumps. This is because Citroen has similar green paint to the C4 Cactus.

The GV60 is a truly unique vehicle. It is hard to tell that it shares the E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Iniq 5, and the Kia E6. Genesis went to great lengths in giving the electric crossover a unique design. Although it looks different from any other crossover, EV or ICE, some criticize it as not being premium enough. Its green color didn’t help. Maybe this camo-free GV60 in black is better.

The front hides the radar sensor and Genesis badge, while the back lacks the badging. Other than that, the GV60 is production-ready. It has a rear spoiler that incorporates a third brake light, and the clamshell hood connects it with its mainstream counterparts.

Although Hyundai’s luxury division is not revealing the technical specifications of the vehicle, this prototype rides on 20-inch wheels. It is likely to be about the same size as the Ioniq 5 or EV6. This means that it measures less than 4.7m (185ins) in length and has a generous wheelbase. The Hyundai EV measures 3 meters (118.1 ins) between the axles. This makes the wheelbase more than the Palisade or EV6 which have a 2.9-meter base.

The reveal car is different from the undisguised, black prototype that was spotted in South Korea earlier in the week. This is due to the use of traditional side mirrors rather than tiny cameras. Genesis is able to sell the GV60 with traditional mirrors because many countries do not allow for cameras to be fitted to automakers.

The old-fashioned mirrors have been replaced by single screens inside the cabin. Inside the electric crossover is a peculiar rotating ball that acts as the gear selector. Although our spy didn’t get a chance to see inside, it seems that the GV60 has a different interior with lighter brown accents and a similar-colored steering wheel.

We still don’t know a lot about Genesis’ first dedicated EV. However, all will be revealed in the coming weeks, as the GV60 is likely to go on sale in its domestic market before the end.
