There are many options.
Volkswagen’s new consumer site greets visitors with a tease. It says “Sometimes, the past helps to drive the future.” The tease is paired with the fact that the automaker has updated its logo on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which is the first time since 2012. This suggests the company is preparing for a major announcement. What is it? What is it? A pickup truck for the U.S. The return of Beetle but as an electric vehicle? Perhaps VW will merge with Ford?
VW’s future announcements could be gleaned from April 2018, when it announced that its logo would be updated in preparation for an aggressive rollout. The company stated that it would unveil the new logo in 2019, and we are here. VW did not know at the time what its new logo would look. With its social media accounts updated in accordance, it seems that the new look is no longer three-dimensional blue and silver but rather flat and gray.
The new logo could also signify Volkswagen will announce an array of electric vehicles. Maybe. The company has registered several names to its all-electric I.D. Vehicle lineup, including I.D. I.D. 1 through 9. 9 are quite different from the names it uses on its concepts like I.D. Buzz and I.D. Crozz. It was only two months ago that VW introduced the I.D. Roomzz (below), an all-electric SUV that can travel 280 miles, is a concept. VW has not been silent about its electrified future .
It could signal a major shift in the brand’s direction, whatever tomorrow holds. The April 2018 Bloomberg article has more nuggets than that. It could be a hint at tomorrow’s announcement. We close with Jochen Sengpiehl’s quote. Sengpiehl stated that the biggest challenge was how to get people in the electric world. “We want people have fun with us. We must be more colorful.
One way to attract customers is with a major announcement about EVs. Gray is not a color that’s vibrant.
