Valmet unveiled in Geneva the Eva EV concept.
Valmet is usually a back-office player (they produce the Porsche Boxster/Cayman as well as the Fisker Karma), but the Eva was introduced by Valmet to “illustrate their capabilities” in concept car development, complete car engineering. Ilpo Korhonen, the company president, stated that the project was started over a year ago after a market analysis and concept study. The goal was to develop a concept for an urban electric vehicle that is environmentally-conscious in Europe and America. It would be a vehicle that can be driven, not just for show.
The Eva is unique in design, with an aluminum space frame and 2+2 seating. It also features a direct-drive motor. The Eva can travel up to 160km (99 miles) per single charge and can reach a top speed 120 km/h (75mph).
Nokia’s Terminal Mode, which allows you to access your smartphone’s features, services and apps through your car’s speakers and displays, and a NAVTEQ program that “uses information about the road network to regulate speed to maximize the vehicle’s range in the most efficient way.”
