What is the difference between this lap time and other supercar laps?
The Lamborghini Huracan SV was launched last November as a $328,000 road car. The car is now a highly capable track car thanks to a number of upgrades by the automaker. A new video by SportAuto showcases the car’s capabilities as it races around Hockenheim’s race circuit. It also shows how the car compares with other supercars.
Although the Huracan STO is more expensive than the Huracan, the engine is the same. The 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 produces the same 630 horsepower (470kilowatts). The STO produces less torque than the Evo’s 443 lbft (565 Newton-meters), but it makes more torque – 417 lb-ft (565 Newton-meters) instead of the Evo’s 443 lbft (660 Nm). The STO is lighter than the Huracan Performante, at 95 pounds (43 kgs). This is due to the STO’s bodywork being made of carbon fiber.
Lamborghini also received aerodynamic tweaks to improve its handling. The car was able to complete a lap of the track in 1:48.6 seconds, with Christian Gebhardt as the test driver. Although it is a solid time, it is not enough to allow the Lamborghini to break into the top-10 rankings on the track. It is slightly faster than the Huracan Evo, which was also tested by the publication. This lap time was 1 minute and 49.0 seconds. With a lap time 1 minute and 40.8 seconds, the McLaren Senna is at the top.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is just behind the STO, which clocked a lap time of 1:48.5 seconds around the track. The naturally-aspirated V10 still packs a punch and this shows in its lap times, but its overall performance is solid. It can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just three seconds, while reaching maximum speed of 193 mph (310 Kph). The Brembo brakes were another upgrade Lamborghini made for the STO. They can stop the supercar at 62 mph in just 98 feet (30 metres).
