The new look, new colors and new additions to the range.
It has been almost four months since we heard anything about Audi s new A5 and S5. In September 2019, we wrote a story about the most significant changes to 2020. It highlighted the new styling and standard features. The major changes to the European market were mainly in the form of a mild-hybrid engine and more diesel engines to choose from. However, the United States is not the only one to benefit. Audi USA just released pricing and trims for the latest model. And no, we don’t get a diesel.
You’ll immediately notice the more aggressive front fascia. This is a tribute to the Audi Sport Quattro of 1984. It has a sleeker side profile, new bumper and rear diffuser that give it more street presence. The Premium trim adds technology to the front seats with standard LED taillights and headlights. Upgrade to the Premium Plus for Matrix design LEDs. The Prestige package includes the Matrix LEDs along with dynamic turn signals and nifty animated taillights. These activate when the car is locked or unlocked. The latest MIB 3 infotainment systems uses a 10.1 inch touchscreen. There is also an option for the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit 2. There are also options to get a Bang & Olufsen soundsystem with 3D sound, either 19 or 20, from Bang & Olufsen. Black Optic or S Line packages are also available.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is standard on all A5 models. It produces 248 horsepower and 273 pounds-feet. This unit is mated with a seven speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. S5s can enjoy the 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 with 349 horsepower & 369 pound-feet torque. These numbers remain the same for 2020. However, Audi Drive Select is available as a standard option. It includes a sport suspension option and adaptive sport suspension.
