The leaked documents suggest that a hybrid model could also be launched in the United States.
The Ford Mondeo has only 30782 deliveries in Europe’s D segment. This is a weak business case for the Blue Oval. For comparison, the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb were the leaders in this segment, with 90,621 sales and 51,734 sales, respectively. The Mondeo is currently fifth overall, just a few hundred more than the Peugeot 508. If a report by British media on the future of this model is accurate, it could be a positive change.
Although it is not definitive, the document leaks interesting details about the construction and design of the rear suspension on the new Mondeo. A tool that can be used to remove a rear leaf spring from a specific model is mentioned in the guide. This layout has not been used by the company for their European models for a while. Autocar thinks this chassis design is very similar to that of the Volvo XC90’s suspension. This suggests a new hybrid/plug-in hybrid powertrain. Ford’s 2.5-liter hybridized engine, which was first introduced with the Escape/Kuga, will soon be available for the Smax and Galaxy duo in Europe.
According to previous reports, the Mondeo could be transformed into a lift-equipped wagon in order to compete with the Subaru Outback . The model is expected to be built on the C2 modular platform, which underpins the new Eurospec Focus. It will be available at both ends of the big pond.
