Crazy Ford Mustang Mustang Drift Car with 2JZ Swap Tows Its OWN Race Tires

All completed in less than 30 days

Although EcoBoost Fords have become more common, many would argue the V8 is still the heartbeat of the Mustang. Trevor Jameson, a 2JZ-powered Mustang drifter, is featured in the latest episode on Hoonigan Daily Transmission. Justin Pawlak, a Formula Drift driver and Mustang enthusiast, made a guest appearance along with his son Jackson.

The engine bay looks amazing for a car built in 30 days. The engine’s pearlescent lime green paint stands out against the darker components around it. The massive turbocharger (Garret GTX3076-R), which isn’t quite as striking as the engine, but is still easy to see is also visible.

While Jameson isn’t running a ridiculous amount of boost, he said that it has been super reliable while still running stock internals. That said, the 512 horsepower (381 kilowatts) coming from the 2JZ was still too much for the stock Mustang transmission. Jameson swapped in a Nissan 370Z Transmission to handle the additional power.

The engine bay is an excellent spot but this car has more to offer. Jameson designed the car for drifting events but had only 30 days to complete it. To drift, the car has a Justin Pawlak-built front suspension system. The car can also tow a small trailer with everything you need for a weekend of drifting. This includes spare parts, tools, wheels, and everything else that a Mustang drift car may need for a few days.

Jameson finishes the video by doing a burnout using the trailer attached and then drifting around the yard that the Hoonigans set up for guests. Justin Pawlak joins the fun in tandem donuts with Jameson, as he rides his V8-powered Mustang. We’d love to know which ‘Stang is your favorite.
