In the late 1960s, buyers were looking for a drag-strip-ready Camaro. They turned to Yenko Chevrolet. Former racer Don Yenko owns the Pennsylvania dealership. He transformed factory Camaros into track-ready, go-fast vehicles that can compete with more powerful muscle cars such as the Ford Mustang and Plymouth Barracuda.

Chevrolet doesn’t have a Yenko Camaro, but one shop chose to use the nameplate of a powerful Bowtie product, the Corvette. The vehicle is loaded with power and has a few aerodynamic cues. It also features the legendary Yenko nameplate at the front fender as well as throughout the cabin.

Specialty Vehicle Engineering in New Jersey built the Corvette. It features a supercharged 6.8-liter V8 engine under its hood. This is essentially a bored-and-stroked version of Grand Sport’s larger 6.2-liter V8. The aluminum block includes a race-quality forged 4340-steel crankshaft, H-beam rods and forged aluminum pistons. It also features CNC ported LT-4 cylinder head with ARP high-strength heads.

You can choose from a stage I upgrade which produces 835 horsepower (622kilowatts) or a full-on upgrade that produces 1,000 HP (745kW) and 850 lb-ft of torque. You can choose from a seven-speed manual transmission with a new clutch or an optional heavy duty automatic transmission with a cast aluminum quad exhaust tip set with brushed aluminum or black tip faces and Yenko badges.

You can choose from a range of colors for the special graphics on the sides, roof, roof and wheels, including Gloss Black or Flat Black, White, Hugger Oranges, Silver, Reds, Yellows, Grays, or Blue. The cabin receives the same customized treatment, including black or grey door panels, headrests and the Yenko logo on steering wheel, seat trim and key fob. Special badging is added to show its unique nature.

Only 25 examples will be available on the showroom floor. They are also available through certified GM dealers. The warranty on the engine, supercharger and non-powertrain components is 3 years/36,000 miles (60,000 km) and the transmission is 12 months/12,000 miles (19,000 km) respectively. Sixty-eight thousand dollars is the cost of the stage II Corvette with a manual, in addition to the new Grand Sport’s price. You will pay $77,995 for the automatic version.
