Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s chief designer, describes the forthcoming GT as “the most beautiful car” that will sport the three-pointed star.
A few days ago, Mercedes’ Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing Olakallenius stated that the AMG GT (name not final yet) will be pure sport rather than sports luxury. Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s chief design officer, says that the model will be “the most beautiful we have ever designed.”
Wagener said that people who saw the car were able to compare it to the Jaguar E-Type, but he feels the AMG GT has more timeless and classical lightness. According to Mercedes-Benz design staff sources, the vehicle will be so low that it “has no lines whatsoever on the sides.”
According to reports, the model will debut at the 2014 German Formula 1 Grand Prix on July 20, 2014. It will use a V8 4.0-liter twin turbo engine (rumored having about 493 horsepower), which was confirmed for the next generation C63 AMG. This engine is the result two turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engines from the AMG A-Class models (A45-CLA45-GLA45)
