The Hellcat-powered Ram may be hiding in an Easter egg.
The new Ram 1500 is finally here after months of spy pictures. The pickup’s debut was at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this week. It featured a new fascia, lighter body and an off-road-ready Rebel trim. People were talking about the trucks, but it was also the whispers of a Hellcat Hellcat model with 707 horsepower (527 kilowatts).
According to AllPar reports, Ram engineers are working secretly on a Hellcat-powered pickup truck. According to insiders, the company is preparing the 707-hp truck to debut in a few months. It will also include a number design elements taken from the TRX. A few images from the official site are the most convincing clue.
The UConnect screen time for the new Ram was 7:07 in press photos (pictured above). This is the same power as the Hellcat Hemi V8, naturally. The press release did not include the Ram Rebel, which was the only model with the 7:07 speed. However, the Ram Rebel is the most sporty model among the group, so it would be logical to have the engine.
The Ram Hellcat was previously imagined by our rendering artists. It features a new styling cue such as a blacked out grille and matching dark-finished wheels. There are also larger openings in its front fascia to allow for a larger engine. Let’s hope it looks like this. The Ram Hellcat is a welcome successor to the SRT-10, which was introduced in 2004 and had a 500-hp (373kW) 8.3-liter engine.
We’ll be content with the rest of this range until Ram confirms that the 707-hp pickup will be available. The 2019 Ram 1500 is available with either a V6 of a standard mild hybrid or a V8 of a 5.7-liter. It produces 305 horsepower (227 kW) or 395 horsepower (294 kW). Unfortunately, we don’t yet know the cost of the new pickup, but we will soon know when it goes on sale.
