Volkswagen Arteon Wagon Showed With Very Little Camouflage

This is an excellent guideline for how the production version might look.

When the long-roof model arrives on the roads, the Volkswagen Arteon wagon is being developed with minimal camouflage. These spy shots give a great view of the vehicle. The estate could make its debut in the coming months.

This vehicle looks like it has all the production-ready parts except that the corners are covered. However, this concealment isn’t enough to hide the true design. The engineers attach tape to the rear of the window surround. Although it appears that the greenhouse has changed in appearance, further research reveals the true nature of this component. Zooming in on the images at the back reveals taped panels above the taillights.

The Arteon wagon will reportedly get the R treatment in order to make VW a high-performance wagon. Rumours suggest that the model could use a turbocharged version of the legendary VR6. This would produce around 404 horsepower (301kilowatts). Another report suggests that it will use a tuned version the turbocharged four-cylinder of 2.0-liters with 325 horsepower (242 kW). We will have to wait to see if this report is true.

In an effort to increase the popularity of the Arteon, the United States will be giving it a minor facelift. According to Hein Schafer (VW’s senior vice-president of product marketing strategy and product marketing), the tweaks would include improved lighting and “cool enhancements” to the interior. He also suggested that the wagon could be offered in the U.S.
