A mid-size pickup is quite expensive. Is it worth it?
The Chevy Colorado is the most extreme pickup GM made – one could argue – since Chevrolet S10 Xtreme. We’ve driven it. Under the hood you will find the same 3.6-liter Duramax diesel engine or the 2.8-liter Duramax engines. However, this time they are paired with an off-road package that cranks up the aggression to 11.
All this newfound aggression also comes with a staggering price tag. The Colorado ZR2 is priced at $42,620. This surpasses the base Colorado’s price by a few thousand dollars. And that’s without considering a long list of options. You can test the new configurator to see for yourself.
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 will cost $52,645, with all the options, even the Duramax diesel engine option. A Cajun Red Tintcoat Exterior is the first choice, and it costs $495. There are seven other standard colors available: Black, Deepwood Green Metallic (Graphite Metallic), Laser Blue Metallic and Red Hot, Silver Ice Metal, as well as Summit White.
The ZR2 has a pricey exterior finish. You can add-ons such as a Gearon package for $470, a premium interior package which includes all-weather floorliners and illuminated feetwells for $750 and an optional offroad sport bar and offroad lights that will cost you over $1,000 each.
The most expensive ZR2 model is available for purchase at $50,370. It can be ordered with the gas-powered ZR2. This is $2,275 less than the diesel-powered model. You also get the same exterior options and interior options as the engine producing 308 horsepower (229 Kilowatts) as well as 275 pound-feet (372 Newton meters) of torque.
It’s not surprising that this all seems a little pricey. You could buy a base Ford F-150 Raptor for $3,380 less than the most expensive Colorado. The ZR2 is an amazing little machine, so don’t let it get away.
