X-Tomi Design has digitally transformed the BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer into a full-featured M model.
The 5-seater 2-Series Activity Tourer is a controversial model in BMW’s lineup. It’s not only the first front-wheel-drive car, but also the first MPV. BMW unveiled a seven-seat 2-Series Gran Tourer earlier this week. This is basically an expanded derivative that can accommodate two rear passengers. BMW released images immediately after the unveiling with an M Sport Package in an effort to make the people-carrier more attractive for an additional EUR5,970.
Now, X-Tomi Design has envisioned an M2 Gran Tourer. This will not happen as there is no market for a high-performance MPV. However, it’s still interesting to see how a multi-purpose vehicle in Bavaria looks when it’s dressed up in M.
Side note: Some of you may recall that Renault and Matra created a rear-wheel-drive, mid-engined Espace F1 in 1995 ( see attached photos), which included many F1 parts, including a carbon-fiber chassis and body. The engine produced 811 horsepower (597 kW) from a V10 3.5-liter V10 engine sourced from the 1993 Williams-Renault FW15C Formula 1 vehicle. It was a concept car and was never produced. This was because it was created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Espace and Renault’s participation in Formula 1.
