This teaser image shows the new generation of Peugeot 408 with its refreshed face. According to the announcement, the French brand confirms that the full model debut will be “Towards the End of June 2022.”
Peugeot claims the new 408 will have styling cues that are inspired by SUVs, but with a fastback silhouette. The teaser image shows the vehicle’s blue nose and vertical, body-color elements within the grille. The lower fascia can also be seen, with a mesh pattern that is zig-zag.
French automaker is also working on the 4008 (gallery down). Peugeot plans to make a model that combines SUV and fastback styling. The vehicle has a sleek profile and a high riding stance. The front end is more aggressive thanks to the tilted headlights. The wheels of the development vehicle have a strange, asymmetrical spoke pattern.
The 4008 reportedly has the same platform as the Peugeot308, Opel Asstra and DS DS4. The plug-in hybrid powertrain might be available, with a range of approximately 37 miles (60 km).
Stellantis, Peugeot’s parent company, will launch , a fully-electric lineup of models for consumers in Europe by 2030. Commercial products will continue to have combustion engines. The automaker will introduce more than 75 BEVs worldwide across its brands.
You won’t see the Peugeot 408 or any other Peugeot-branded products in the United States. Stellantis, who merged with FCA, created a plan to invest in Alfa Romeo and not introduce another marque to the US market.
At the Beijing Motor Show, the first-gen Peugeot 408 was unveiled in January 2010. To make the vehicle more spacious for rear passengers, it was a longer-wheelbase version the 308. The brand planned to sell 100,000 units of this vehicle annually at the time.
