The A90 is ready for 2020 Formula D.
The Toyota Supra is a staple in drifting, and the new MKV A90 Supra will be a major player in the 2020 Formula D Season. Papadakis Racing is a Toyota Factory Formula D team that had great success using Scion TCs or Toyota Corollas. But this year, the team will be switching to the A90 Supra. Papadakis Racing’s creativity was instrumental in turning front-wheel-drive economy cars to world-beating drift cars. We are excited to see their success with a vehicle that was designed to be a sports car.
Papadakis Racing is a long-standing tradition of making unassuming Toyota products championship-winning drift cars. The 2015 Formula D Championship was won by the Papadakis Racing Team with the Scion TC Drift Car. They also competed in the Scion IM hatchback, and the most recent Corolla Hatchback Drift Car. The team has spent much time in the past converting a front-wheel drive car into a rear wheel-drive drift car. We are excited to see the final product of their A90 Toyota Supra drift car design.
Papadakis Racing team, led by Steph Papadakis, created a YouTube series that documents the construction of the Toyota Supra Drift Car’s 1033 horsepower engine. You will find captivating videos that document the stock engine teardown and rebuild, the stock supra teardown, and the push for the final build.
Fredric Aasbo, Formula D driver, has proven his skills in MKIV Supras that got him into Formula D. We’re eager to see how this experience transfers to the new A90. We just need a confirmed date for 2020 Formula D season in order to compare the A90 Supra to the MKIV.
