What LS did you do with a Miata? That’s cute.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata. This little sports car is a legend, cruising through twisty canyons and racing on twistier tracks around the globe in its lightweight roadster form. Although this particular Miata doesn’t have the ability to carve asphalt, it’s not as if we haven’t seen other off-road Miatas. We’ve actually seen this exact car, even though it was a pale shade of green back then. The supercharged Mazda engine sent power to the rear wheels. Things are slightly different this time. Everything is different.

This car was first seen in September 2018. Gingium documented the build and it certainly received attention. The car suffered from some damage over the years, as the channel shifted to other projects. Then, last December, a Subaru WRX appeared on the scene. All hell broke loose. You’re probably looking at a Mazdaru or Subariata or even a WRMX-5. This Miata body conceals the all-wheel drive soul of a bug eye WRX. You don’t have to ask why. Just embrace the awesomeness.

This video is near the end. The video starts with the car broken down, but the Subaru-spec EJ four pot and all-wheel drive powertrain are still in place. This clip shows the main component assembly. It starts with the underhood and moves on to the wheels, brakes, and body panels. The interior is not finished. It is still covered in wires and the engine doesn’t sound like it’s running. It’s hard to deny how horrible this thing is.

Even with only two-wheel drive, the previous model of this car was capable. It is a huge effort to install a new engine in a Mazda Miata. We cannot wait to see these spinning, muddy AWD donuts.
