VW claims to be making small crossovers specifically for America

It would be a challenge to the many compact crossovers like the Jeep Renegade.

Volkswagen introduced the TRoc to Europe last year. It recently teamed the Golf-sized SUV and the smaller T Cross. The automaker is said to have made an odd decision to not bring these cars to the United States. According to a new rumor by Car, VW will instead create a compact crossover for the American market. It will not arrive in the States until 2020, at the earliest.

The new VW will challenge small crossovers like the Honda HRV, Jeep Renegade and Toyota CHR. The details of the new VW vehicle remain a mystery. This forces us to speculate about it. The crossover was designed with American tastes and production is likely to take place in North America at one of VW’s plants located in Mexico or the U.S. Because so many VW products are underpinned by the MQB platform, it seems likely that they will use the MQB platform.

The T-Cross is not being sold in the U.S. because it is smaller than its European counterpart. According to Car and Driver, the company doesn’t believe the larger T-Roc is suitable for the market.

VW doesn’t deny that crossovers are the future of the automotive industry. The firm expects half its orders to be from this segment by 2025. The business plans to include more than 30 SUV models in its global lineup in order to meet the demand. Crossover sales should be driven primarily by North America, South America and China.
