The video actually lists five, but one is hidden beneath the dash.
The new Chevrolet Corvette has a lot to love. The Z51 package adds 495 horsepower (or 369 kilowatts) to the naturally aspirated V8. The Z51 package gives the C8 a shorter gearing which allows it to reach 60 mph in just 3 seconds. While it’s certainly an improvement over the C7, there are still some differences that C8 owners may not like, as Chevrolet Dude points out in the video.
This all may sound familiar. Another Chevy Dude clip was covered a few weeks back. It listed five things that he did not like about his car. Although he lists five items in this clip, they aren’t necessarily things he dislikes. Some aren’t that annoying, but a few missing items are clearly irritating to both the driver and passenger. Ironically, Chevy Dude misunderstood one of these features. We’ll talk about it in a moment.
This list begins with the C8’s central touchscreen as there is no storage space. A secret compartment was found in the previous Corvette. You could access it by entering a code onto the screen and it would rise up. Although it was useful for valuable storage, the new Corvette didn’t have enough room. Next, the C8 does not offer any horsepower readings anywhere. This is in the driver information center as well as on the infotainment screen. These are minor issues, but they are very minor.
Also, the C8 doesn’t have any digital odometer for mileage tracking. But before you get all sarcastic about this being illegal and absurd,Chevy DudeThis is not a problem if the car is in track mode. You can also set trip odometers in this setting. However, standard mode does not have the full odometer. Grab handles are not available on the passenger side, but they do exist.VeryDuring full-throttle launches, this can be a problem for Mrs. Chevy Dude. This is the only missing feature that we can see as an issue for some.
How about the moment Chevy Dude had a facepalm? He started a mini-diatribe about the absence of a 12-volt outlet for a cigarette lighter in the interior of the C8. This would be a valid complaint, except that there is a 12-volt outlet in the greenhouse. Other C8 owners pointed it out, though it was hidden underneath the dash next to the glove box. ChevyDude acknowledged the feedback and stated that none of Chevrolet’s sales videos had mentioned the 12-volt plug.
We would love to hear your opinions. Do you find it frustrating that these differences are not easily resolved by the C8?
