The family hauler could grow in size, and may be eligible for tech iNext technology.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, a fascinating machine. The five-door minivan-ish five door is not available in the U.S. However, it is a popular choice in Euro markets. With the Gran Tourer losing its market, the Active Tourer should survive for another generation. A new set of spy photos supports that theory. They give us a first glimpse at the prototype on the road and some comparison shots with a current-generation model in order to see the difference in size.
This prototype’s camouflage is thicker than the original, hiding details from both the front and back. Active Tourer owners will be familiar with the overall shape, which features large doors that take up most of the space to the sides. The roof is tall and slopes down slightly at the rear. The beltline appears a little more relaxed in its rake. We can still see the camouflage at the front, even though it is still quite heavy.
BMW The grille will expand significantly. It doesn’t seem as crazy as the plans for the future.M3And M4 It’s not as large as the current generation.
These photos give us a glimpse inside the layout. However, at this stage we are seeing prototype-spec controls and cloth coverings. Although the layout appears to have digital displays for both the instrument clusters and the central infotainment systems, it could also be similar to the iNext. However, those items may only be temporary for testing purposes.
Although there are many similarities between the current model and this one, our sources confirm that it is a brand new Active Tourer with U08. It is definitely larger than the current model, but it will continue to use a front-wheel drive platform with all-wheel drive as an option. Three- to four-cylinder engines should be able to burn either gasoline or diesel fuel.
The new 2 Series Active Tourer is expected to debut in 2021. This is only our second sighting. There’s much more development and testing ahead.
